Attention Past Pupils of Shepton School

Friends of Shepton School (FOSS) – Saturday 7th February in the Village Hall – Brunch / Light Lunch 10:30-13:00 – On the menu will be Homemade Soup, Bacon Rolls, French Bread Pizza, Croissant and Homemade Jam, Quiches, Homemade Cakes and Hot and Cold Drinks all for £1.50.

Whilst you are enjoying your brunch or drinks, you will be able to browse lots of school photos from past years (going back to the mid 80s) and are available for a donation that will also go towards School funds. The school will also have on display current pupil’s work and information regarding the school.

(FOSS have a reputation for their excellent cooking so please come along and bring with your friends.)

In spite of the snow a very good turnout, thank everyone for attending and of course many thanks to all the excellent cooks (not forgetting the washer ups), the bacon sandwiches were delicious.

The Friends of Shepton Beauchamp Church of England First School (FOSS) would like to send out a big ‘THANK YOU’ to everybody who attended the very successful brunch/light lunches last month. The event took place on Saturday 7 February in spite of the severe weather conditions. The village hall was buzzing with people from the village not just looking at the old School photos, but eating the delicious home cooked food and chatting with friends. A total of £330.00 profit was made for the School and there are still some monies to come in yet from the sale of the homemade lemon curd, pickled onions and chutney. FOSS would like to thank everybody who donated ingredients and they would be grateful for donations of clean glass jars for the future.

It was a very successful and fun morning and some requests have been made for there to be another Brunch/Light Lunches event.

I am pleased to say that on Saturday 7 March 2009 FOSS will be cooking again so please come along between 11.00am – 2.00pm for some more delicious home cooked food and the opportunity to meet with friends and have a good chat.

We look forward to seeing you there again – thank you. FOSS.

FOSS Fund Raising Drive - 2009

Friends of Shepton School is the fundraising body for our village school and we are currently planning some events for 2009 and details of these will be posted on the website soon!

Apart from the fact these events are a great way to bring the community together, they also are a great way that FOSS can fundraise for the school and provide those little extra special things for our children, without having to dip into the school budget!

Anyone can be a “Friend of Shepton school” - it is not just for parents of children who are there right now.

Cake Days
Throughout each term, the school holds a couple of cake days to raise funds. We will advise you of the dates for 2009 in order that you can perhaps help by baking a cake or small cup-cakes for these events and dropping them in at school on cake days? Cakes go on sale in school from 3pm and anyone is welcome to call in to buy something!

Fruit and Vegetables/Plants and Cuttings
After half term we will be in need of some seeds for the children to plant their vegetables and flowers in the school garden. Do you have any you could perhaps donate to the school, such as tomoatoes, carrots, cabbage etc…It would be great to have some donated from the community in general?

Printer Cartridges
The school collects used printer cartridges which are sent for re-cycling. They have just claimed £30 for that ones handed in last term - it is not a huge amount on money, but every little helps! Please leave any used printer cartridges you may have with Jo & Blue at Shepton Stores or drop them in at the school.

Sainsburys vouchers
The school is collecting Sainsburys vouchers again this year. Last year the vouchers helped them buy some new playground and sports equipments. If you have any you could let them have it would be great - please post them into the school.

Time/Help
Would you be able to offer time to help with tea & coffee-making at one of the FOSS stalls at the various markets? There aren’t too many events so this wouldn’t be really time-consuming.

Many times we hear the words “if only I’d known, I could have helped with that or I would have baked you a cake”…

It really doesn’t always have to be about donating lots of time or money – lots of little things do help!

Perhaps you could:- give a pack of coloured card or white A4 paper in to school; donate a cartridge they can use in their printers; donate a raffle prize; give an item they can use in a hamper or hand in to them any Tesco Computers for school vouchers or “Boxtops for Education” vouchers.

The recent brunch morning we held was a great success even despite the snowy conditions! It was a a lovely way to spend time with friends for a catch-up and helped to raise over £330 for the school. Thank you to all the people who came out to help and support this event.

Thanks also for taking the time to read through this and thank you for any support you might be able to give to our little village school and their events for 2009 (coming soon).

Any queries can be directed to school on 01460 240793 and email:
office@sheptonbeauchamp.somerset.sch.uk or to Sharon Humphreys, Jo Walshe, Liz Sanderson or Lynn Hodge or you can contact us via this website.

Fund-raising

Due to a change in government funding for our Village School, we need YOUR support with fund-raising!

The school collects, for re-cycling, old printer cartridges and old mobile phones. For each cartridge or phone re-cycled, the school will receive income from the recycling company. If you have any empty cartridges or old phones, dont throw them away, hand them in to Shepton School or Shepton stores and let our children benefit - the income derived is quite small but every little helps!

Thank you Sharon

IT EQUIPMENT FOR SHEPTON SCHOOL

A Huge THANK YOU to everyone who has sponsored the school for the purchase of the much-needed IT equipment. Your generosity has been amazing.

We now have six brand new laptop computers in the classrooms and have on order two new interactive whiteboards for our children!

The staff, governors and the children are quite overwhelmed by the support of local individuals and businesses and in all honesty, the school could not have achieved this without your help and generosity!

We simply can't thank you enough.

Sharon Humphreys

Community Governor, on behalf of Shepton Beauchamp First School

Vouchers for Schools

If you have any Tesco Sports vouchers or computers for school vouchers, why not hand them in at Shepton School and help our school benefit from sports equipment or training sessions and computer equipment. They also collect Nestle Box tops too!

Thanks for your support!
